Co-Workers in Santa Clara County Win State’s $543 Million Jackpot

Eleven co-workers who entered an office pool on a whim are the winners of the state's $543 million lottery jackpot.

The winning ticket was purchased from Ernie’s Liquors in San Jose and claimed at the lottery office in Hayward on July 25.

“It was spur of the moment,” said one of the men, Roland Reyes, of the decision to play. “Hey, did you hear about the jackpot? We should play,” he recalls someone saying.

He and his colleagues all work at a Wells Fargo branch in San Jose.

Oh, and they allegedly plan to keep their day jobs
