After Fires, Southland Prepares for Dangerous Mudflow

With more than four inches of rain expected to fall on the southland’s mountain areas this week, authorities are warning some residents in recent burn areas to evacuate due to possible mudslides.

Parts of Orange and Riverside counties are affected by the latest advisories. Authorities also have their eye on San Bernardino, Los Angeles, and Ventura for possible evacuation orders.

“People in these zones SHOULD GO NOW because it is the safest time to leave,” Riverside County emergency officials said in a statement. The major concerns are areas impacted by the Holy Fire, Cranston Fire, and Canyon 1 and Canyon 2 Fires from earlier this year.

The heaviest rains are expected in Orange, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties between 4 a.m. and 7 a.m. Thursday.

Riverside County residents can view their evacuation status here.
