Cannabis Raids Under Way in Mendocino County

The California National Guard is carrying out another joint effort to eradicate illegal marijuana — this time in Mendocino County.

Operation Clean Sweep was launched on July 15 and will run through July 19, The Mendocino Voice reports. It is being led by the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) with help from the Guard and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife.

A similar effort is taking place in Humboldt County. Previously, raids were conducted in Siskiyou. The heavy law enforcement presence is a reminder that illicit marijuana operations remain a major concern for law enforcement and legal industry professionals in California.

According to a press release, the latest efforts will be focused on operations “believed to be involved in water diversion and other situations of environmental degradation.”
