Former Merced County DA Larry Morse II Dies at 64

Larry Morse II, who served as Merced County District Attorney from 2006 to 2018, has passed away at the age of 64. Morse died of a heart attack on Tuesday, September 14.

“His legacy of dedication and service will be felt in Merced County for years to come and will be sorely missed,” said District Attorney Kimberly Lewis.

“Larry always emphasized that our job was simply to do the right thing in the right way,” added Merced Mayor Matthew Serratto, who worked for Morse in the District Attorney’s Office. “Excelling as a prosecutor means it's your job to always be fair, just and right -- often when finding truth and seeking justice requires great judgment and painstakingly hard work. Larry was a master at it and an absolutely exceptional trial lawyer."

Morse is survived by his wife, two sons, and a granddaughter.
