Marin Becomes First County With ‘Moderate’ Transmission
Marin County moved into the CDC’s yellow or “moderate” coronavirus transmission tier on Wednesday. It is the only county in California to drop into that category.
How Marin got here is no mystery. The county has the highest vaccination rate in the state. 82.5% have received at least one dose and 77.5% are fully vaccinated.
“We see a direct correlation between high vaccination rates and decreasing case rates, and this is an example of what we can do together as a community,” the county said in a statement.
As of Oct. 15, Marin will ease the indoor mask requirement. If the county stays in the yellow tier for three consecutive weeks, the indoor mask requirement will end and default to the state’s mask mandate.
