Elisa Marquez Sworn In as Alameda County Supervisor
Former Hayward City Councilmember Elisa Marquez was sworn in last week as the newest member of the Alameda County Board of Supervisors.
Marquez is representing the 2nd District, previously held by the late Richard Valle, who passed away in February.
An election will be held for the District 2 seat next year. Marquez is planning to run. She will compete against labor representative Ariana Casanova, who was Valle's preferred successor and a finalist for the appointment.
Marquez is keeping her position as chair of the board of directors for the East Bay Community Energy. She is being appointed to the county's Public Protection Committee and its Ad Hoc Committee on Reparations.
