County: Napa Auditor-Controller Recognized for Excellence in Transparency and Financial Reporting

The Napa County Auditor-Controller’s Office has received awards for excellence in financial reporting and transparency from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) and the California State Controller’s Office.

The Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from GFOA was given in recognition of Napa’s annual comprehensive financial report for the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2022.

“The report was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating a constructive ‘spirit of full disclosure’ to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the report,” according to the county. “The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.”

Napa County has received the annual award 18 times.

For the 23rd year, Napa County has also received the State Controller’s Award for County Financial Transactions Reporting.

“Napa County’s excellence in reporting helps my team produce accurate and useful local government financial data, which is relied upon by policymakers, researchers and constituents throughout California,” said California State Controller Malia M. Cohen.

“I take great pride in the work accomplished by our dedicated team on behalf of the taxpayers,” said County Auditor-Controller Tracy A. Schulzez. “Our objective is to uphold the financial integrity of the County by ensuring effective oversight through accurate financial reporting and solid internal controls. This recognition strengthens our ongoing dedication to the citizens of Napa County, and we are privileged to persist in delivering these essential services to our community.”
