San Joaquin Supervisor Candidate Charged with Hit and Run
A candidate for the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors has been charged with one count of hit-and-run driving after officers say he crashed into three parked cars and then fled the scene.
The suspect, Chris Roupett, currently serves as Chief of Staff for District 1 Supervisor Miguel Villapudua. Roupett plans to run for a board seat himself next spring.
The crash took place on September 29 at 9:40 p.m. According to the CHP, Roupett was confronted by a witness after the incident. But he fled on foot, leaving behind the totaled vehicle he was driving. Authorities found his San Joaquin County government work identification card in the abandoned car.
Roupett has since claimed he suffered a head injury in the crash and has no memory of what happened.
