
Nine Teens Arrested in Beating of San Clemente Marines
Orange County deputies have arrested nine teenagers accused of beating a group of U.S. Marines just before the Memorial Day weekend.
San Clemente Mayor Chris Duncan announced the arrests Tuesday. Five suspects were charged with assault with a deadly weapon and taken to juvenile hall. Four others were charged with misdemeanors and released from custody.
The incident was captured on video and can be viewed here. According Mayor Duncan, none of the three Marines were seriously injured.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate the incident and is asking for information from the public. Tips can be called in to 714-647-7000.
The City Council has approved the hiring of four additional deputies to patrol the city’s beach areas.
